1992 was a year for change. Robbie Villalpando was ready for the change. In 1992 there wasn't a "boatfull" of tattoo shops in Richmond, Va. The tattoo shop Robbie was working at was owned by a non-artist, and it was what Robbie says "the need to create art" that was the fuel to drive her to open Red Dragon Tattoo. Robbie had a very large and loyal clientele that encouraged her to open her own shop. In order to help her handle the large amount of new business (along with her appointments), Robbie called an old friend and tattoo artist Frank "Doc" Mills to help her out. Almost 15 years later Red Dragon Tattoo has continued to be Richmond's premiere tattoo shop. Robbie's passion and love for art and tattooing has been the catalyst for Red Dragon Tattoo. Robbie's ability to think outside the box without compromising the purity of tattooing has kept Red Dragon Tattoo on the forefront of modern tattooing. Many a tattoo artist owe Robbie a huge "thank you" for having a tattoo shop to work at that remained true to the history of its roots and not just looking for a quick buck.
