Tats for Military Prosthetics and Orthotics – Very Cool
Military tattoos are very old school. Just ask a vet and you’ll see some sweet classic ink. Tats for prosthetics and orthotics for injured military members is a new twist on the old idea. There is a certain aggressiveness and patriotic flare for those of our men and women in the military. They often show this through some of the hardcore, killerist ink you’ll see this side of…well, anywhere. From the “Don’t Tread on Me” to the “Kill’Em All, Let God Sort Them Out” tats, the ink work down around [and in!] military bases is top notch.
The problem with these artificial limbs is they look, well, artificial. Some enterprising souls, however, have come up with the idea of inking them. The military was originally a bit testy about the idea since these things cost a lot, but have now come around to the idea. In fact, Global Tattoo Orthotic Prosthetic Innovations was just approved to do design work on the artificial limbs. Yes, that is a terrible name for a company, so they refer to themselves as GTOPI.
The application is not a tattoo in the traditional sense, but more of an air brushed image. It looks akin to the paint work done on a custom chopper. It can be very detailed if you desire. Words don’t do it justice, so just look them up.
The real beauty of the work is the effect it has. Instead of being self-conscious about the artificial limb, it can now be a customized point of pride.
